Foreign LLC

« Back to Glossary Index

A Foreign LLC is an LLC registered to do business in a state other than the one where it was originally formed. For example, if you formed your LLC in Delaware but operate in California, you must register as a foreign LLC in California. This ensures compliance with local regulations and tax obligations. Failure to register properly can result in fines and legal restrictions on your business operations. Each state sets its own rules and fees for foreign LLC registration.
