Domestic LLC

« Back to Glossary Index

A Domestic LLC is simply an LLC operating in the state where it was originally formed. For example, if you formed your business in Texas and only operate in Texas, it is considered a domestic LLC in that state. The term “domestic” is used only in contrast with “foreign LLC.” This distinction matters mainly for businesses that expand across state lines. Domestic LLCs are subject to the rules and compliance requirements of their home state.
