Dissolution is the process of formally closing your LLC with the state. This might happen voluntarily when owners decide to stop doing business, or involuntarily if the state shuts down your LLC for noncompliance. The process involves filing dissolution documents, settling debts, and distributing remaining assets among members. Failing to dissolve properly can leave you responsible for ongoing fees and taxes. Proper dissolution ensures you are no longer legally tied to the business.
