County Clerk

« Back to Glossary Index

The County Clerk’s office often plays a role in LLC compliance at the local level. In some states, you file DBAs (Doing Business As names) with the county clerk. Certain counties also require local permits or licenses for specific types of businesses. This office is also responsible for maintaining public records at the county level. If your LLC has a physical storefront, you may need to register locally in addition to your state filings.
