Certificate of Good Standing

« Back to Glossary Index

A Certificate of Good Standing is an official document issued by your state confirming that your LLC is legally compliant. It shows that your business has filed required documents, paid necessary fees, and is authorized to operate. Banks, investors, and government agencies often require one when you’re applying for financing or expanding into another state. You can usually request it from the Secretary of State’s office for a small fee. Keeping your LLC in good standing avoids unnecessary roadblocks when doing business.
